Voyij, a company dedicated to connecting vacationers with local Alaskan businesses, faced a significant challenge. Each year, over 2.25 million tourists visit Alaska, but many struggle to find unified, authentic Alaskan experiences. Existing digital eCommerce platforms were disjointed, offering either local tours, activities, or merchandise/gifts/souvenirs, but not all three. The lack of a comprehensive platform meant that the true essence of local Alaska was not being accurately represented. Voyij sought to develop the first online platform for Alaskan businesses to share local stories with travelers, while also enabling them to shop and book activities online. They needed a solution that could handle the complexities of their vision, including tiered pricing, activity availability calendars, multiple pickup locations, and more.

Voyij is dedicated to offering a unified, authentic Alaskan experience to the millions of tourists who visit the state each year. They strive to accurately represent the local businesses and experiences of Alaska, bridging the gap between travelers and the local community.
The Solution
FATbit, with its eCommerce expertise, was brought on board to develop a comprehensive solution. They began by incorporating insights from Voyij's extensive internal research and identifying the most critical modules of the project: Activities, Products, and Blogs. FATbit customized their flagship multivendor eCommerce solution, Yo!Kart, to bring essential functionalities to the fore. The Activities module was developed to handle 'activities/experiences' in the same vein as physical products. They established a direct path between travelers' expectations and activities discovery by categorizing and mapping them with respective sub-categories. The Products module was developed using Yo!Kart, pushing core eCommerce capabilities for products into production. A city-specific page was created to accelerate the discovery of city-specific information and aid in SEO, acting as a central hub for the city and navigating users to activities, gifts, city-related blogs, and famous local eating joints.
