The Challenge
Wegter, a non-food wholesaler, was facing several challenges. They needed a faster business analysis for their customers and a reduction in the time it took to generate reports on licensing and royalty agreements. Their customers were also demanding more detailed reports on available inventory, delivery schedules, and royalties. The company was using different packages to retrieve data, organize it, and present it, which was inefficient and time-consuming. They were also struggling to meet their customers' demand for a delivery reliability rate of more than 92 percent.
About The Customer
Wegter B.V., based in Hengelo, The Netherlands, is a wholesaler of non-food products. The company operates in the retail, hotel & restaurant, and corporate kitchen markets through its three units: Wegter Consumenten B.V., Wegter Grootverbruik B.V., and Indomo B.V. Wegter Services B.V. provides administrative, automation, and logistical support to these units. The company employs approximately 80 people and generates dozens of reports every day for its operations.
The Solution
Wegter Services B.V. deployed 30 QlikView applications to 40 employees across 5 functional areas. The initial 3 applications were up and running within 3 days. With QlikView pulling data from TMS Powermaster on IBM System i (AS/400), Wegter Services now analyzes customers, products, inventories, prices, and sales with a focus on driving corporate profitability. The solution was implemented quickly and smoothly at the beginning of 2005. It took JIS only three days to install QlikView, including three applications that topped Wegter’s priority list: tools for generating reports on sales, inventories, and delivery reliability.
