The City of Edinburg faced significant challenges in managing a hybrid IT environment that included Mac, Linux, and Windows operating systems. The existing solutions, such as WSUS, left gaps in their Linux and Mac environments, making parts of their IT landscape vulnerable. Additionally, the city struggled with maintaining cyber hygiene and security, relying on outdated, on-prem legacy tools to support remote devices. Automox provided a cloud-based solution that could secure devices such as laptops and tablets used by various city departments, including police, permit, and water inspection units. The implementation was swift, with the city going live in just days and fully setting up the environment within weeks. Automox's cloud-based nature eliminated the need for VPNs to run updates, allowing the IT department to manage and patch devices remotely. Additionally, the city leveraged Automox Worklets to customize automation, manage installed and uninstalled software, and gain visibility into device connectivity. The Netherlands are well-known for their inland waterways, canals, sluices and of course port activities.
