With over 2,400 accounts and handling approximately 11 million cases per year, the company needed to optimize its delivery routes and improve overall efficiency. The existing system required significant manual effort and time to complete daily routing tasks, which was not sustainable given the scale of operations. To address these challenges, Golden Eagle Distributors implemented the Omnitracs Roadnet Transportation Suite from Omnitracs Roadnet Technologies. This suite includes Roadnet, MobileCast, Info Center, and Territory Planner, which together provide a comprehensive solution for route optimization and real-time delivery management. The Roadnet system allows Golden Eagle to produce both standard and dynamic routes efficiently, completing all daily routing tasks in less than 45 minutes. The addition of the MobileCast system enabled wireless dispatch and tracking, providing real-time delivery information and GPS data for the trucks' locations. Each driver carries a Nextel phone with the MobileCast delivery application, capturing precise arrival and departure times and relaying this information back to the dispatcher in real-time. The Roadnet Info Center further enhances the solution by making delivery information accessible to the entire organization through a user-friendly Java application, allowing for quick and accurate responses to customer inquiries and comprehensive reporting on costs, route exceptions, and delivery efficiencies.
