The Challenge
ANZ Bank, one of the fastest-growing banks in Indonesia, was grappling with the inefficiencies and governance challenges of manual processes. The bank's rapidly increasing transaction volume was overwhelming its existing business processes and workflow. The manual handling of document submission and verification, particularly for loan and ATM applications, was slowing down customer service and making governance difficult. The bank was also struggling with the complexities of regulatory compliance, including the Foreign Accounts Compliance Act. The bank needed a scalable, standardized solution that could enhance operational efficiencies, provide workflow transparency, electronic collaboration, and document storage, and scale easily to support business growth.
About The Customer
ANZ Bank is one of the fastest-growing banks in Indonesia, handling a rapidly increasing volume of transactions. The bank was manually handling document submission and verification, which was slowing down customer service and making governance difficult. The bank needed to adhere to financial regulations, including the Foreign Accounts Compliance Act, which required a streamlined process. ANZ Bank wanted to replace its manual processes with a scalable, standardized solution that could enhance operational efficiencies, provide workflow transparency, electronic collaboration, and document storage, and scale easily to support business growth.
The Solution
ANZ Bank partnered with Ebiz Cipta Solusi to implement the Nintex Platform, automating authentication, approval, and compliance processes based on existing Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008 installations, with the addition of Advanced Workflow and Modern Forms from the Nintex Platform. The new solution replaced competing email systems, shared folders, couriers, and postal mail, providing a common platform for all employees. Ebiz used Nintex’s Modern Forms to create process input interfaces for employees, allowing branch loan officers to enter data into the form, scan the collateral documents, and attach the .pdf versions. This data was saved in SharePoint, enabling immediate access for employees at bank headquarters. Ebiz also built a regulatory compliance workflow using Advance Workflow on the Nintex Platform for SharePoint, which works with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and uses complex business logic to sort and route data based on department, financial regulations, document expiration dates, and transaction type.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of the Nintex solution significantly improved ANZ Bank's operational efficiency. The bank was able to streamline its loan application process, reducing the need for manual document submission and verification. The solution provided workflow transparency, electronic collaboration, and document storage, making it easier for the bank to adhere to financial regulations. The bank was also able to reduce the number of people needed to verify the same number of loan application documents, boosting productivity by 10% to 15%. The success of automating the loan application process led the bank to consider automating other manual processes with the Nintex Platform. As of late 2014, ANZ Bank has implemented the Nintex solution at all its branches in Indonesia, to streamline retail, institutional, and branch operations. It also plans to automate procurement processes.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Productivity increased by 10% to 15%
  • 30% improvement in loan application performance
  • Loan account openings increased from 12,000 application transactions per month to 16,250 application transactions per month
