MONACO USES ALARM SOFTWARE TO PROTECT BEAUTIFUL MEDITERRANEAN WATERS

MONACO USES ALARM SOFTWARE TO PROTECT BEAUTIFUL MEDITERRANEAN WATERS - IoT ONE Case Study
Technology Category
  • Functional Applications - Remote Monitoring & Control Systems
  • Sensors - Flow Meters
  • Sensors - Level Sensors
Applicable Industries
  • Cities & Municipalities
Applicable Functions
  • Business Operation
Use Cases
  • Water Utility Management
The Challenge

Monaco’s sanitation department uses alarm software to monitor its water treatment facilities. With connections to the waste water networks, the main lifting stations, three storm overflows, a storm tank, as well as waste water pre-treatment and final treatment operations, the department can rest assured that they know exactly what is – and what is not – being put back into the ocean on a regular basis.

The Customer
The Principality of Monaco
About The Customer
The Principality of Monaco, a small city-state located on the Mediterranean’s French Riviera.
The Solution

The solution was created using ARC Informatique’s PcVue and (WIN-911’s European partner) Micromedia International’s ALERT alarm software. PcVue supervises the entire water sanitation process, monitoring over 1200 operational parameters involved with the system, including water level, speed, pollution levels, and other variables, while ALERT sounds the alarm if something goes wrong. Using pre-recorded voice alarms associated with each potential problem, ALERT transmits the necessary data via mobile phones to the appropriate people on the appropriate response team(s).

Alarms For Automated Applications, Error Logs, Pollutants detection, Water Level, Water Quality
Operational Impact
  • In addition to providing a mobile alarm system, ALERT also provides a way to track event history. The software automatically compiles event logs and reports that can be invaluable as research and preventive management tools.

  • All in all, the local ecology – and hence the health and welfare of the citizens of Monaco as well as that of the millions of tourists who visit every year – has been made much safer by this installation.
