ELI LILLY ADOPTS MICROMEDIA’S ALERT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
WIN-911
Pharmaceutical production is subject to a strict set of enforced rules that must be adhered to and compliance to these standards is critically necessary. Due to the efforts of WIN 911’s strategic partner Micromedia, Lilly was able to adopt an alarm notification infrastructure that integrated smoothly with their existing workflows and emergency hardware and protocols. These raw energy sources enable the industrial process to function: electricity, WIN-911 Software | 4020 South Industrial Drive, Suite 120 | Austin, TX 78744 USA industrial steam, iced water, air mixtures of varying quality. Refrigeration towers, boilers and wastewater are monitored by ALERT. Eli Lilly identified 15000 potential variables, but limitations compelled them to chisel the variable list down to 300. This allowed all major alarms to be covered including pressure, discharge, quantity of waste water discharged, temperature, carbon dioxide content, oxygen & sulphur content, and the water’s pH.

STMICROELECTRONICS INTEGRATES ALARM NOTIFICATION INTO ITS PRODUCTION CONTROL PRO
WIN-911
Semiconductor production environments are “clean rooms” and must be tightly monitored in order to reduce the possibility of product contamination. A dusty environment will almost certainly lead to quality control issues. In order to prevent such disasters, STMicroelectronics installed a data monitoring and centralization system that instantly recognizes a problem and alerts the appropriate people.

MICROMEDIA’S ALERT ASSISTS AIR LIQUIDE’S SCADA SYSTEM FABVIEW
WIN-911
WIN-911’s partner product ALERT is a key element in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system “FabView” from Air Liquide. Air Liquide is the second largest supplier of industrial gasses in the world. This SCADA alarm notification system is specifically designed to monitor, among other things, the distribution of gas in a semiconductor manufacturing plant located in Dresden Germany. Like most operations of its type, this facility can’t afford much downtime in its distribution facility. If ALERT detects a leak in a pipeline, the system evaluates how severe the leak is and transfers the data back to the central site or home office. Once the information is back in the main office, the SCADA alert system then transcribes the data into understandable messages to which employees can respond appropriately.

WEST TEXAS GAS TRUSTS WIN-911 ALARM NOTIFICATION SOFTWARE
WIN-911
It became clear that the SCADA system was not an infallible means ofmonitoring field stations; the systems would sometimes lose connection with the host computer. This caused delays in personnel response to alarms and increased the risk of severe warnings not being received before corrective actions could be implemented. As a precaution, the alarm points had to be visually monitored and staff would be required to call the appropriate personnel if an alarm came through. Regulations wereestablished for timely reporting. The management at West Texas Gas quickly determined that a secondary alarm support system needed to be installed. They were seeking something that would be able to monitor variable tags from the OPC server as well as monitor custom tags that were built into the existing SV32 SCADA system to observe and report flare volumes.

AUTOMATED DAIRY SYSTEM MONITORING WITH WIN-911 PRO ALARM NOTIFICATION SOFTWARE
WIN-911
For automated dairy systems, maintaining precise environmental conditions is essential; the products (cheeses, milk, butter, ice cream, etc.) are temperature sensitive. Whether during the high-heat phases of bacteria removal and pasteurization or the refrigeration of finished products, a change in temperature can render an entire batch unusable.

WATER TREATMENT FACILITY ALARM NOTIFICATION SOFTWARE AIDES WATER FACILITY IN LAN
WIN-911
The water treatment facility in Lannion, France has been tasked to treat and manage the water supply for the town and surrounding region of 22,000 people, using two plant locations to process almost two million gallons each and every day. By any standard, that’s a lot for one operation to manage and maintain all by itself. To help catch problems before they even start, they implement a water treatment facility alarm notification system.

TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT DEPLOYS WIN-911 SOFTWARE WITH TRIDIUM’S NIAGARA PLATFORM
WIN-911
The installation of WIN-911’s alarm notification software at the Tobyhanna Army Depot was done as part of an overall energy efficiency project. In the early 2000s, the base worked to decentralize their coal-fired steam heating plant. This project included the construction of 10 boiler rooms housing 21 new boilers, as well as 37 air rotation units installed in various buildings. The entire infrastructure had to be integrated into HMI/SCADA systems and the existing control systems had to be upgraded. Ameresco, a leading independent energy efficiency company, was selected to head the project. Ameresco, in turn, specified WIN-911’s alarm notification system as the software platform used to instantly alert staff of any problems.

MOUNT RUAPEHU ALARM NOTIFICATION SOLUTION SAVES LIVES ON VOLCANO’S EDGE
WIN-911
Mount Ruapehu in New Zealand is the most active volcano in the world. Major eruptions occur about every fifty years, with 60 or more minor eruptions since 1945. To add to this hazardous situation, the volcano’s crater periodically fills with water between eruptions causing the crater wall to collapse and release flood water and mud down the mountain onto inhabited areas. On Christmas Eve 1953 such a flood, called a lahar, washed an overnight train off a bridge, leading to the loss of 153 lives.
