FEGRO/SELGROS, a retail company based in the United States, was grappling with inefficient paper-based processes that lacked central control over procedures. This made it challenging for employees to ascertain if they were using the most recent version of a process. Moreover, tracking the progress of a process or ensuring its timely completion was virtually impossible. The company had developed a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to cover various employee activities, but it lacked a system for updating these procedures. Many of the procedures required employees to print out forms and circulate them to managers for approval. These paper-based approval processes were slowing decision making and decreasing productivity.

FEGRO/SELGROS is a retail company based in the United States. The company had developed a set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to cover various employee activities. However, it was facing challenges with its paper-based processes that lacked central control over procedures. This was causing inefficiencies in the company's operations, slowing down decision-making processes, and decreasing productivity. The company recognized the need to implement an intranet to store the SOPs and provide an easy way for employees to access them. They also saw this as an opportunity to simplify and automate their procedures.
The Solution
To address these challenges, FEGRO/SELGROS implemented Nintex Forms and Nintex Workflow on a new Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 intranet site. This allowed the company to standardize and automate processes, enabling its workforce to easily and effectively track the progress of work items. The company partnered with Fritz & Macziol, an international technology services firm, to build a system to create and update the company’s SOPs with enforced reviews and approvals. The solution also automated the procedures to provide greater transparency and improve efficiency. The SharePoint deployment began in November 2011 and by March 2012, Fritz & Macziol developed a Nintex Forms solution to manage how procedures are created and updated. The workflow converts the approved document to a PDF and publishes it on the Intranet.

Ensures Cold Milk in Your Supermarket
As of 2014, AK-Centralen has over 1,500 Danish supermarkets equipped, and utilizes 16 operators, and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. AK-Centralen needed the ability to monitor the cooling alarms from around the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each and every time the door to a milk cooler or a freezer does not close properly, an alarm goes off on a computer screen in a control building in southwestern Odense. This type of alarm will go off approximately 140,000 times per year, equating to roughly 400 alarms in a 24-hour period. Should an alarm go off, then there is only a limited amount of time to act before dairy products or frozen pizza must be disposed of, and this type of waste can quickly start to cost a supermarket a great deal of money.

Supermarket Energy Savings
The client had previously deployed a one-meter-per-store monitoring program. Given the manner in which energy consumption changes with external temperature, hour of the day, day of week and month of year, a single meter solution lacked the ability to detect the difference between a true problem and a changing store environment. Most importantly, a single meter solution could never identify root cause of energy consumption changes. This approach never reduced the number of truck-rolls or man-hours required to find and resolve issues.
